"Experience is the best teacher"
Experience is the best teacher we have is an old and popular idiom. Well! The moment we listen to this proverb many different thoughts sprung up in our mind but I agree with that. Although some people think that best way to learn about life is by listening to our elders and friends, I believe that people learn the best by their experiences. Life is nothing but just a series of learning opportunities and experiences. It is not that a person knows all about life at avery young stage.
Learning by our own experience is long lasting and provides better learning. Now it is important to remember that experience can be good or bad. However, both kinds of experiences are required in life to make sure that you succeed in life and do well. It is up to you to make the best of the lesson.
Lets be practical and just think about it- Are you prepared to be operated on by a surgeon who has read all about it in books but has never done it before? Have you had your car repaired by someone reading from a manual but who has been an apprentice? Obviously your answer will be 'No'! We define experience as direct personal participation.
First of all chapters, we learn through our own experiences are long lasting. We remember those lessons for long time and always remember not to repeat them again. If a child touched an iron and was burnt by it he or she is more likely to remember not to do such a thing in future than another who is told time and time again not to touch it. However the true form of education comes with the real life lessons.
We gain this through our lives and by putting ourselves in different live situations to get it. We read about how to debate but it is never as adequate as the experience of it, standing in front of an attentive audience, conscious of saying the right thing, even feeling self-conscious and embarrassed but having done this several times, gaining the experience to deal with it and to improve from it. Practice makes man perfect.
When we realize something ourselves, we understand them more and research more. These experiments and interference help us to master that subject. A second example- Chemistry is a very tough subject but when we practice same formula again and again and do experiments in laboratory we learn more. Same things apply to the experience of life. And the final one but not the last for why experience is the best teacher is you cannot be a lawyer, a doctor or a engineer as soon as you finish university. You have to become an articles clerk and work under an experienced advocate to gain that kind of knowledge and confidence, an intern or an apprentice in a recognized hospital or medical institute to get sufficient experience first. You can't grow as a person without making mistakes. So it is important to learn from what you have seen in life and use that as a tool for personal growth. Remember that you can't achieve personal growth in life without experience.
In rough times you get to see who stood by our side and who didn't. This experience tells you the difference between people who are your well-wisher and who are just pretending to be. For this experience is important.
Lets wrap up this discussion and come to the conclusion. Practical experience in a field or subject is the final step in mastering it because certain tasks cannot be done effectively without practice and hands on experience. Experience is important to manage things in a better way in the future. So when you experience of dealing with a rough situation you learn to remain calm and composed about the whole situation and ultimately grow as a human being.
They say- Age is nothing just a number. And maturity doesn't come from age but from experience.
So yes, definitely "Experience is the best teacher ".
Thanks for reading.
